NEW ORLEANS – Junior Zeke Wood was named as the Sun Belt Conference's Pitcher of the Week on Tuesday after a dominating performance on the mound in the series opener against Ohio State. It is the first weekly conference award for the right-hander.
Wood struck out 10 Buckeyes in seven scoreless innings to earn the win. He allowed just one hit and walk and faced one batter over the minimum as he retired the final 18 batters he faced.
The Paris, Texas native is the first Bobcat pitcher to record double-digit strikeouts in back-to-back since 2012 after he recorded 12 strikeouts on opening day.
