KEY BISCAYNE, Fla. – The Texas State women's tennis team began the FIU Invitational winning a pair of doubles matches and four singles matches at the Crandon Tennis Center on Friday.
Ana Perez teamed win Julia Navajo-Melendez to win one of the doubles matches when they beat Florida Atlantic's Natalia Boltinskaya and Kristen Thoms by a score of 6-2 in a top-flight match. They face Drake's Tess Herder and Liza Petushkova in a semifinals match on Saturday at 8 a.m.
Joy Chia Ming Ming and Sophia Murcia-Rodriguez combined for the second doubles victory, winning a 6-1 decision against Joely Lomas and Kenya Williams of Drake in the first-round of the second flight.
