HOUSTON, Texas - The Texas State tennis team came away with one second-place finish and three third place showings at the Rice Invitational when the Bobcats opened their 2018 schedule at the George R. Brown Tennis Center on Sept. 21-23. The tournament was delayed several times because of thunderstorms in the area.
Julia Navajo-Melendez was Texas State's top performer in singles after she was the runner-up in Flight 8. Navajo-Melendez had a 6-0, 6-0 victory over Charleen Tiwari in the first round and a 6-0, 6-4 win over Petra Kaszas of Sam Houston State in the semifinals.
