SAN MARCOS, Texas - Texas State head football coach Everett Withers announced Monday that Kyle Hoke has been named a new assistant coach and that Zack Lucas has been promoted to director of football operations for the Bobcats.
Hoke will coach Texas State's safeties and last year's safeties coach, Preston Mason, will move to outside linebackers for the Bobcats. Jules Montinar also returns to the secondary as the cornerbacks coach and special teams coordinator.
Hoke comes to Texas State after serving the 2017 season as the defensive coordinator at John Carroll, where his defensive unit ranked second in the Ohio Athletic Conference in scoring defense and produced the league's most outstanding linebacker in Mason McKenrick.
