EUGENE, Ore. – Alyssa Wilson set the collegiate hammer throw record for an American on Thursday at the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships with a throw of 74.78 meters/245 feet-4 inches.
Wilson became the second-best hammer thrower in collegiate history with the toss as she placed second in the event. Cal's Camryn Rogers, originally from Canada, took first place with a collegiate record of 77.67 meters/254-10.
A graduate transfer, Wilson built upon her successful first season at Texas State with the performance at Hayward Field on Thursday. Her throw was a school record and personal-best – beating out her previous PB by more than five feet.
