NEW ORLEANS – After throwing his first career complete game over the weekend, Texas State's Levi Wells was named the Sun Belt Conference's Pitcher of the Week on Tuesday.
The right-hander needed just 96 pitches to go the distance in Saturday's contest at Appalachian State to drop his conference low ERA to 1.56. He allowed just two runs, one of them earned, on six hits while striking out two in the 6-2 victory that clinched TXST's seventh consecutive weekend series.
His complete game came 366 days after the last one for the Bobcats, which was thrown by Zachary Leigh in the series opener against UT Arlington.
