Texas State moved quickly in filling the vacant spot on its football staff.
Less than 24 hours after the Bobcats announced that associate head coach John Wiley resigned for "personal/ family reasons," Everett Withers turned to a familiar name. Texas State hired Sam Houston State's Troy Douglas as Wiley's replacement, a source told the Daily Record on Thursday afternoon.
Douglas, who joined K.C. Keeler's staff in Huntsville in February as the Bearkats' secondary coach, worked alongside Withers at North Carolina from 2009 through 2011. During that three-year period with the Tar Heels, Withers was the defensive coordinator while Douglas served as the defensive backs coach.
