NEW YORK – Theodore Hoffman became the 59th player in school history to see his name called after he was selected in the 15th round of the 2017 Major League Baseball Draft Wednesday afternoon.
He was chosen by the Detroit Tigers with the 455th overall pick, which was also the 20th pick of the 15th round. His selection marks the 44th draftee under coach Ty Harrington (since 2000).
Hoffman had a breakout campaign that saw him register career highs in every statistical category. The junior right fielder belted the sixth most home runs in a single season in program history (16) and also recorded the sixth most total bases in a single season in school history (153).
