SAN MARCOS, Texas – In the newest States Up podcast, Texas State softball's Karmyn Bass – who is having a great freshman season behind the plate – joins to share insights into her first season as a Bobcat, the impact of her family, and why she chose Texas State while being recruited in the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Originally from the Dallas-Fort Worth area, Bass has inserted herself into the Texas State lineup since Opening Day back in February and played in 50 games so far. She splits time at designated player and catcher, but her time behind the plate has become more frequent as her and fellow freshman Megan Kelnar have stepped up in the role vacated by departing seniors from a year ago.
