Nearly two months after Texas State football player Will Trevillion died after collapsing at his home in Buda on Jan. 6, a cause of death has been determined.
According to Hays County Justice of the Peace Pct. 2 Beth Smith, who requested an autopsy, Trevillion, 20, died as a result of hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, an enlargement of the heart.
“Individuals with enlarged hearts are at increased risk for sudden cardiac death including arrhythmias (improper beating of the heart) and acute myocardial infarctions (heart attacks),” Smith said.
Trevillion was pronounced dead at the hospital after “all possible resuscitation efforts were attempted.
