NEW ORLEANS, La. – Texas State University women's golfer Sasikarn Somboonsup has been named both the 2017 Sun Belt Conference Freshman and Newcomer of the Year, the league office announced Thursday. The awards were voted on by the league's head coaches.
Coastal Carolina's Malene Krolboll Hansen was named the Sun Belt's Golfer of the Year, while Troy's Bart Barnes garnered Coach of the Year honor from his peers.
Somboonsup, who is also a Sun Belt Conference First Team selection and a Sun Belt All-Tournament Team honoree, led the Bobcats and finished fourth in the Sun Belt with a 74.
