Runarsdottir Crowned NCAA Women's Hammer Throw Champion

EUGENE, Ore. - Elisabet Runarsdottir was crowned the NCAA National Champion in the women's hammer throw to begin day two of the National Championship meet. Runarsdottir became the first Texas State athlete in 28 years to win an individual title at the National Championships and became the first Texas State athlete to win the title in the hammer throw.

Her winning mark of 70.47m/231-2 came on her third throw, which set the tone going into the final three throws of the competition. She was the only athlete in the field to record a mark over 70 meters, which she did twice during the event.
