TROY, Ala. – Top-seeded Louisiana, ranked 14th in the latest USA Today/NFCA Coaches' Poll, defeated second-seeded Texas State 5-2 in the Sun Belt Championship winners' bracket final.
Texas State (40-14) now drops into the elimination bracket where they will face the winner of No. 4 seed South Alabama and No. 5 seed UTA at approximately 3:00 p.m. on Friday (May 12). The winner advances to Saturday's championship game against Louisiana (44-6), which is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. live on ESPN3 and the WatchESPN platform.
Louisiana collected 10 hits – with seven coming as routine singles – en route to scoring its five runs.
