NEW ORLEANS – After helping the Texas State soccer team to two shutout victories this past weekend, Heather Martin was selected as the Sun Belt Conference's Defensive Player of the Week. It is the first weekly conference honor for the sophomore goalkeeper in her career.
Martin played all 180 minutes between the posts and stopped all seven shots on goal by opponents during the week. She made three saves against Georgia Southern Friday night for her first non-combined shutout of the season in the Bobcats' SBC home opener.
The Midlothian, Texas native followed with four stops at Arkansas State in a match delayed nearly 90 minutes in the second half because of lightning.
