SAN MARCOS, Texas – Ismail Mahdi earned his second All-America honor of the season as the sophomore was named All-America Second Team as an all-purpose player by The Athletic on Wednesday.
Mahdi, from Murphy, Texas, has been recognized as an All-American by CBS Sports/247Sports (first team, all-purpose) and The Athletic. He is the second Bobcat in the program's FBS history to earn All-America honors in a season from multiple organizations. The other was Jeremiah Haydel in 2020 when he garnered three different All-America distinctions (FWAA, Phil Steele, ESPN).
The nation's top all-around performer, Mahdi totaled 2,014 all-purpose yards this year, which are the most in the country.
