SAN MARCOS, Texas – On Thursday, Texas State men's golfer Logan Lockwood qualified to compete in the 2018 U.S. Amateur. The junior qualified by finishing second at a sectional qualifying tournament held at the Texas State Golf Course in Euless, Texas.
The Van, Texas native began by shooting a 3-under 68 on the par 71 course in the first round. He recorded six birdies in the round with back-to-back coming on holes 10 and 11 and 14 and 15.
Lockwood followed with a 6-under 65 in the afternoon round that saw him card five birdies and an eagle on the par 5, 497-yard seventh hole.
