It’s official: Texas State confirmed last week’s news that Troy Douglas was making the three-hour drive southwest to San Marcos — with one caveat.
Douglas, who had been an assistant at Sam Houston State since February, will actually serve as the Bobcats’ safeties coach in 2016. At first, it was believed that Douglas would guide Texas State’s linebacking corps, the vacancy that was left when John Wiley resigned from that post last week, citing “personal/ family reasons.”
The switch in personnel fits with Douglas’ background, considering the veteran assistant has spent most of his career as a defensive backs coach.
