College Football: NCAA reverses course on satellite camps, Texas State, Sun Belt schools resume business as usual

On what had rapidly become the most hot-button issue of this college football offseason, the NCAA Board of Governors voted on Thursday to rescind a short-lived ban on satellite camps.

Earlier this month, the NCAA’s Division I Council prohibited those camps from existing effective immediately in a controversial measure that fell 10-5.

The latest ruling means that these off-campus coaching clinics, which are attended by prospective college football players, will be sanctioned throughout this offseason.

“The Board of Directors is interested in a holistic review of the football recruiting environment, and camps are a piece of that puzzle,” said Board of Directors chair Harris Pastides, president of the University of South Carolina.
