HOUSTON — Five wasn't Texas State's lucky number on Wednesday night at Reckling Park.
With the Bobcats ahead by three, freshman starter Brandon Lewis lost his command and the bullpen couldn't stop the bleeding in time as Rice pushed across five runs in the fifth inning.
Texas State, which hasn't won a midweek road game in nearly four years saw that dry spell continue during an 8-4 loss to the Owls.
The Bobcats (3-2) grabbed the early 1-0 lead when Jonathan Ortega raced home on a shallow pop up off the bat of Granger Studdard in the third inning.
