College Baseball: Texas State flounder with runners on base in 7-3 loss to South Alabama

When Granger Studdard thumped a single past the glove of Drew LaBouty during the ninth inning, it really wasn't all that significant where the final result was concerned.

Had Studdard, or his teammates for that matter, picked up a hit when someone was standing on second or third base earlier in Friday afternoon's proceedings, it may well have opened any number of doors for Texas State. Much like South Alabama, the Bobcats were trying to win a game in which their opponent's best pitcher (read: Kevin Hill) was on the mound.

Instead, Studdard's hit represented something different: It was the first time in 13 at-bats that Texas State tallied a base knock with a runner in scoring position.
