Once Luke Sherley cranked a game-tying home run in the eighth inning, it was a race against the clock.
Sunday's matinee at Bobcat Ballpark lasted one inning too long for Texas State but just long enough for Georgia State — although head coach Greg Fardy made every effort to stop the game after ten.
Despite a drop-dead time of 3 p.m. due to traveling concerns for the visitors, the series finale between the Bobcats and Panthers was extended beyond that point. In the eleventh inning, Darius Sewell yanked a breaking ball from freshman Brandon Lewis for a go-ahead homer and Texas State eventually suffered a 10-9 loss to Georgia State.
