A week into fall camp, Texas State football is entering its next stage of reps and practice. Full contact practices and more game-like situations will be held as the Bobcats inch closer to the season opener on September 3 at Nevada.

While playing sound, fundamental football is paramount for success, you've got to mix in some "home runs" to go along with the walks and singles. Taking the baseball analogy a bit further, manufacturing runs one base at a time can be difficult to do consistently: it's the teams that load up on extra base hits that tend to score more than those who rely on "small ball.
