SAN MARCOS, Texas – The Texas State baseball team defeated McNeese State 12-1 in the first game of a weekend series Friday night at Bobcat Ballpark.
The Bobcats (2-3) utilized two big innings and a dominant effort on the mound to take down the Cowboys (0-5) in the first meeting between the two programs since 2012. TXST plated five runs in both the fifth and seventh frames to pull away from the visitors.
Sophomore Nicholas Fraze (1-1) needed just 84 pitches to tie his career-long outing of 7.0 innings. He collected the win after conceding just one unearned run on two hits.
