BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Texas State track and field teams opened the 2021 indoor season with three victories and the top collegiate mark in two other events at the UAB Vulcan Invitational on Saturday at the Birmingham CrossPlex. Overall, the Bobcats had 16 of the Sun Belt's top 10 performances this season.
Anayah Washington won the long jump with 5.65 meters (18-6.50) and had the fastest time in the meet with 60 meters with 7.57 seconds. Her time is second, and her jump ranks third among Sun Belt Conference leaders.
Texas State's 4x400-meter relay team of Christine Irving, Chermariea Hardy, Washington, and Breanna Clark had the best collegiate time at the meet and the best time in the Sun Belt this season with 3:53.
