SAN MARCOS, Texas – The Texas State football team (1-8, 1-4 Sun Belt) battled until the end of the game, but fell Saturday afternoon to Appalachian State (5-1, 2-0 Sun Belt) 38-17 at Bobcat Stadium.
"Appalachian State is a very good opponent, and I have to give a lot of credit to coach (Shawn) Clark and the App State players," Texas State head coach Jake Spavital said. "The message all week was that we were going to have to fight and fight. That is what we did until the end."
Starting his third game under center this season, Tyler Vitt found Javan Banks on a free play after the Mountaineer defense jumped offsides on the third play of the game.
