HOUSTON – The Texas State baseball team was a strike away from upsetting 12th-ranked Baylor and claiming at least a share of the 19th Annual Shriners Hospitals for Children College Classic. However, the Bears (9-2) scored two runs in the top of the ninth to defeat the Bobcats (7-4) 5-4 at Minute Maid Park.
Suffering the loss was Brent Hebert (1-1) after he surrendered two runs on three hits in 0.2 innings. Baylor's Kyle Hill (2-0) picked up the win after throwing a scoreless 1.1 innings with two strikeouts.
Connor Reich started for TXST and went six innings with five strikeouts.
