CONWAY, S.C. – The Texas State football team (3-9, 2-6 Sun Belt) battled but came up short in a comeback attempt on Saturday in a 24-21 loss at Coastal Carolina (5-7, 2-6 Sun Belt) in Brooks Stadium.

Tyler Vitt got TXST on the scoreboard with a quick slant to Mason Hays. The senior wide receiver took it to the house totaling 64 yards. Alan Orona converted the PAT to tie the score at 7-7. The catch was the longest in Hays' career.
Hutch White completed an eight-yard pass to Vitt to cut the deficit to 14-13 with 9:38 remaining in the fourth quarter.
