SAN MARCOS, Texas – Texas State (7-4) hauled in a season-best 53 rebounds and junior forward Jayla Johnson scored a game-high 18 points to lead the Bobcats to a 67-59 victory over Alcorn State (4-8) on Monday evening at Strahan Arena.
Sophomore guard Kennedy Taylor stuffed the stat sheet with 16 points, a career-high six rebounds and a season-high eight assists. Junior guard Avionne Alexander also turned in a career performance dropped and 12 points on 6-of-10 shooting.
Johnson energized the home crowd by nailing her first eight shots from field and found success while primarily finding success in the mid-range game.
