LUBBOCK, Texas — Wednesday's softball doubleheader between Texas State and Texas Tech provided the exciting games many hoped to watch to open the 2021 season — before weather postponed the series — as the Bobcats rallied to earn a 6-5 victory in the first game, but fell, 7-2, in the second.
Jessica Mullins drew the starting pitching assignment for the Bobcats (7-3) to start the day and went 5.2 innings before being lifted for Brooke Blackwell, who earned her first career win, and eventually Meagan King, who shut the door and earned her first save of the season.
