AUSTIN, Texas – On Sunday, nearly 7,500 participants competed in the 3M Half Marathon in the capital of the Lone Star State. A highlight of the event was Texas State alumnus Michael Morris winning the elite men's race.
Morris, a 2013 Texas State graduate, was part of a four and five-runner pack for most of the race in chillier than normal temperatures. The spring to the finish featured a dual between him and Oklahoma City's Andrew Leahey. Morris crossed the finish line first in 1:07:19, two seconds ahead of Leahey.
"It was a great, honest and fast race," said Morris.
