DENVER – Junior guard Caleb Asberry was named the Pioneer Challenge MVP and was selected to the all-tournament team after a pair of big performances in the Mile-High City.
Asberry averaged 24.5 points per game in the pair of victories vs. Denver (70-68) and Northern Arizona (70-65). After dropping a career-high 28 points (22 in the second half) against Denver, Asberry put up 21 points to lead the team in the win vs. Northern Arizona. Overall, the Pflugerville, Texas native averaged 3.5 rebounds, 3.0 assists, and 3.0 steals in the two-game tournament.
Each team had one player listed on the all-tournament team.
