MOBILE, Ala. – The hottest two teams in the Sun Belt Conference squared off Tuesday night and it was South Alabama who pulled away with a 58-54 victory over Texas State on Senior Night at the Mitchell Center. With the loss, Texas State drops to the No. 3 seed in the Sun Belt Conference Tournament and will get a bye to the quarterfinals round of the Sun Belt Conference Tournament that will be played at Strahan Arena on Wednesday, March 11.
The Bobcats (20-11, 13-7 Sun Belt) held a seven-point lead after the final media timeout of the game, but the Jaguars' (20-11, 13-7 Sun Belt) senior guard Andre Fox turned the heat up by scoring the final 10 points of the game for the home team to secure a ticket straight to New Orleans for the conference tournament semifinals.
