While many people may not know what career they wish to pursue in their teenage years, Texas State football's associate head coach John Wiley made his career choice when he was 13.
"Back in Texas City, my best friends were the sons of a football coach," said Wiley, who coaches the Bobcat linebackers. "I knew then I wanted to be a coach."
Wiley's coaching career began after he graduated from East Texas State and became a graduate assistant coach at Texas in 1987. He worked with the defensive backs on David McWilliams' staff, and the Longhorns played in a Bluebonnet Bowl that season.
