We're less than three weeks away from the 2015 MLB trade deadline, which means there are plenty of rumors swirling around the Texas Rangers and what they might do on the trade market. With that being said, here's the last in our Rangers Trade Rumors Roundup For July 11th.
Rangers Talked To Phillies About Jonathan Papelbon
The Texas Rangers are in the market for some back-of-the-bullpen help as they look to separate themselves from the logjam in the AL Wild Card standings, and Phillies closer Jonathan Papelbon could be a legit option for Texas if they're willing to part with a premium for him.
Via Jayson Stark of ESPN:
Other clubs say they thought Phillies close to trading Papelbon last month, then pulled back. Heard they spoke to Jays, Cubs, Tex, LA & more

While the Phillies pulled back from that particular set of trade discussions, he very well could be back on the table as Phillies GM Ruben Amaro eyes a rebuilding project for his MLB-worst squad. Papelbon is due to the remainder of $13 million for this season and $13 million for next. He's pitching to a 1.60 ERA and 0.98 WHIP this year and his a perfect 14/14 on save opportunities.
Texas Looking To Move Shin-Soo Choo
According to Marty Gitlin of CBS Sports, "the Rangers would like to trade outfielder Shin-Soo Choo to improve their hitting against left-handers, but that will be easier said than done and will probably have to wait until the offseason, per Fox Sports."
Choo is posting a dismal .156/.233/.248 slash line against lefties, which is made even more troubling by the fact that the 33-year-old is due $102 million over the next five seasons.
In order for the Rangers to move Choo for any sort of healthy return, they'll likely have to eat a significant portion of his current deal.
Stay tuned.
