New York Mets outfielder Yoenis Cespedes will have surgery on his broken right ankle, and will miss the rest of the 2019 season, per Matt Ehalt on Twitter. Cespedes broke his ankle in an episode on his ranch that has been somewhat shrouded in mystery, though it apparently did not involve falling off a horse.
Cespedes, 33, has not played this season. He only appeared in 38 games in 2018, slashing .262/.325/.496 for the Mets. He is in the 3rd year of a 4 year, $110 million deal.
