GOODYEAR, Ariz. -- Rangers manager Chris Woodward said on Monday what left-hander Mike Minor has been waiting to hear.
“I hope I can take those handcuffs off and let him compete,’’ Woodward said.
Minor bristled at times last season at the Rangers’ cautious handling. In 28 starts, he threw 100-plus pitches only three times. Minor made 10 starts on six-plus days rest, something no starting pitcher likes.
“It was frustrating for sure,’’ said Minor, who retired six of the seven batters faced in an 11-5 win against Cleveland. “It was more about being competitive out there.
