FORT WORTH -- Can a slimmer Willie Calhoun be a hit-tier Willie Calhoun?
The Rangers are about to find out.
A noticeably slimmer Calhoun joined the Rangers on Monday for the club's holiday visit to Cook Children's Medical Center. Calhoun said he has dropped 14 pounds and wants to cut an additional five to 10 more pounds before spring training.
Calhoun looked so different from his former squatty, fireplug self that broadcaster Mark McLemore did a double-take upon seeing him.
"I feel a lot better," said Calhoun, who has focused on cardiovascular work and improved eating habits.
