ARLINGTON -- If you thought the Rangers' starting pitching was pretty much awful this season -- and it was historic, by the way -- you should know that was nothing.
Because this is how Jon Daniels compared the Rangers' pitching prospects last winter with this one.
"Last year," the Rangers general manager said at Tuesday's close-out news conference, "we had more confidence in the starting pitching group on hand."
Last year, they still had Cole Hamels and hopes for Martin Perez.
This year, it's Mike Minor and ... no hope.
What this means is if they couldn't come close to fixing this year's rotation with a cross-our-fingers-and-close-our-eyes approach, it sure won't work with next year's rotation.
