KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The Rangers believed Willie Calhoun belonged in the majors. The decision to call him up was based solely on that belief and the need for a hitter.
But, if his presence generates a little bit of competition and a spark among the other young hitters, well, there isn't anybody complaining.
On Thursday, the Rangers finished off what had started as a disastrous road trip with a 16-1 thrashing of Kansas City to end with consecutive wins. On the way to their biggest margin of victory in nearly five years, the Rangers had 29 baserunners.
