If the baseball gods could ever demonstrate a sense of justice when it comes to the Rangers and pitching instead of the same old mordant sense of humor, Taylor Hearn would follow in the footsteps of his famous grandfather, Cleo Hearn of Lancaster. Or "Mr. Black Rodeo," as he's known around horse trailers.
Because the Rangers could certainly use a pioneer. Any good young pitcher would qualify, actually.
Maybe you realize this isn't exactly breaking news.
"Yeah," Cleo said Tuesday. "I've noticed it."
Of course, the 79-year-old "Cowboys of Color" rodeo producer is biased, but he thinks his 23-year-old grandson has the potential to break the Rangers' 0-for-the-century streak.
