OAKLAND, Calif. - Rougned Odor's streak of 170 consecutive games played, all but one of them as a starter, could come to an end Wednesday night in Oakland.
The Rangers did not have Odor in the starting lineup for the game against Oakland. Jurickson Profar will instead play second base. It is the first time Odor has not started since August 9, 2017 at the New York Mets. He did enter that game late as a pinch hitter and finished at second base.
There are multiple reasons for Odor to get a day off, starting with the basic premise that the Rangers did not intend for him to start every game again this season and that the club is committed to finding more playing time for Profar.
