DETROIT -- Joey Gallo understands the process, maybe more than ever in his young career.
Gallo entered Friday’s game against the Tigers batting .138 (9-for-65) in his previous 20 games. In the past, that kind of slump would eat at Gallo’s confidence. This time, he said he knows that hard work will get him back on track.
“Sometimes you get in a funk and try to do too much,” Gallo said. “It happens, and the hitting coaches are trying to get my path back. I’m walking still and seeing a lot of pitches, so it’s different.”
Rangers manager Jeff Banister said he feels Gallo is getting more quality at bats, even when he’s not finding success.
