What does MLB's new collective bargaining agreement mean for the Rangers?

Here is how MLB’s new collective bargaining agreement, which was closed with handshakes all around Wednesday night in Las Colinas, will affect the Rangers:

It won’t.

Nothing changes for the team in the short-term or really during the five-year agreement.

It is business as usual.

The biggest changes to the labor landscape were a gradual increase of the luxury tax threshold, which will go from $189 million to $195 million in 2017 on its way to about $210 million before the deal expires in 2021 and the significant reduction of draft pick compensation for players with qualifying offers.
