SEATTLE - One thing in particular stood out about the Rangers' selections in the first 10 rounds of the amateur draft Thursday and Friday: Their height.
All 10 of the Rangers' selections were 6-2 or taller. The six pitchers the Rangers selected, led by No. 1 selection lefty Cole Ragans, averaged 6-4.5. It's the second straight year the club has drafted pitching giants early. Last year's pitching selections in the first 10 rounds averaged 6-5.
"We like big pitchers," said scouting director Kip Fagg. "But it is not something where we set out to do it.
