ARLINGTON - Before the Rangers’ Thursday afternoon appointment with the Toronto Blue Jays at Globe Life Park, Carlos Gomez roamed the clubhouse armed with a glazed donut in one hand and watermelon pieces in the other. A secret recipe for success, he told anyone willing to listen.
And then the centerfielder predicted he would hit a home run before the day was done..
Turns out Gomez undersold himself as well as the magic of downing donuts with a watermelon chaser at 11 a.m.
Finishing out his first week after coming off a month-long hiatus on the disabled list, Gomez pounded two home runs and drove in five to help the Rangers to an 11-4 victory.
