It took some help, but a Texas Rangers record fell on Sunday.
Shin-Soo Choo, after an infield single in the ninth inning against the Detroit Tigers, became the first Texas Rangers player to ever reach base in 47 consecutive games.
After going 0-for-4 through the first eight innings of the Rangers' 3-0 win, it took a Ronald Guzman single in the final frame to allow Choo one more at-bat to reach the historic mark.
Choo has a .339 batting average during the on-base stretch, and took over as the record holder for Julio Franco who reached base in 46 consecutive games in 1993.
