Justin Verlander and the San Francisco Giants have agreed to terms on a one year, $15 million deal, per multiple reports.
Verlander, who turns 42 in February, spent last year with the Houston Astros, but did not have a very successful season. Verlander had a 5.48 ERA in 17 games in 90 innings, with just 74 Ks against 27 walks. Verlander spent about two months in the middle of the season on the injured list, and particularly struggled after his return from the injured list, putting up an 8.10 ERA over seven starts.
Verlander had pitched well in 2023 after being traded to Houston by the Mets, and won the Cy Young Award in 2022, when he led the majors in ERA.
