Tyson Ross was outstanding in his Texas Rangers’ debut and the offense powered past the Seattle Mariners to take Friday’s series opener 10-4 at Globe Life Park.
Ross, in his first start for the Rangers since signing as a free agent during the off-season, held the Mariners to two runs on two hits over 5 2/3 innings. He struck out five and walked three, including the lead-off hitter in the first. A stolen base and wild pitch allowed Ben Gamel to give Seattle a 1-0 lead but Ross retired the next nine batters. The next batter didn’t reach until he walked Mitch Haniger to start the fourth.
