Texas Rangers catcher Robinson Chirinos has been suspended for one game for his participation in an altercation with Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Matt Kemp Wednesday that led to a benches-clearing incident. Jose Trevino has been called up to be the backup catcher tonight with Chirinos out. To make room on the active roster for Trevino, the Rangers have placed relief pitcher Chris Martin on the disabled list retroactive to Tuesday with a calf strain suffered when he was running to the field from the bullpen in the fracas.
