Todd Frazier, Robinson Chirinos are free agents

Robinson Chirinos and Todd Frazier, who were both traded to the New York Mets from the Texas Rangers at the August 31 trade deadline, have each had their 2021 contract options declined, the Mets announced today. The pair are now free agents.

Chirinos and Frazier were each signed to one year deals with team options by the Rangers last offseason. Chirinos, whose team option for 2019 was surprisingly declined by the Rangers after the 2018 season, and then who signed with the Houston Astros for more than what the team option had been for, was brought back to share catching duties with Jeff Mathis.
